Important Notice – Power, Water & Internet Interruptions
Costa Rica, as a 3rd world developing country, occasionally experiences unexpected power, water, or internet outages. These occur without warning but are always temporary—sometimes resolved quickly, other times taking a few hours while repairs are made. (2025 We have recently implemented an automatic reserve water tank for water outages)
Water Rationing in San José
All 8 cantons in San José are implementing water rationing to maintain supply levels. This means the AYA (Costa Rican water company) may temporarily cut off water for a few hours. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, and we sincerely apologize if it happens during your stay, to resolve this problem we have recently (2025) implemented an automatic reserve water tank for water outages, it can provide water for over 30 hours (as long as we have electricity)
